Re: Elecraft Digest, Vol 116, Issue 4

Phil Hystad-3
In reply to this post by WILLIAM DAVIS
In Theoretical Physics it is common to use what physicists call "God Given"
natural units where constants like C for the speed of light or h-bar are set
to 1 (without units).

In this system, Power, which is [Energy] divided by [Time], is actually
Inverse [Time]-Squared.  This is because Energy has the same units as
inverse time.

Thus,     Power can be expressed in Seconds to the minus 2 power.

That reminds me of a story from my youth. My friend was showing his ham station to his
aged grandmother. "And this is my 80-meter antenna," he said, pointing to a dipole in the
back yard.

"80 meters?" she said, in her thick Hungarian accent. "Is that dangerous?"

Horsepower works for me. When you equate power to horses, you get a much
more graphic understanding of waste than you do with watts. And anyone
who can't make contacts with 6.7 millihorsepower is doing something wrong.

End of Thread in the interest of improving the Elecraft list signal to noise ratio.

Also, when replying to a posting in a list Digest, please change the subject
